Regulations
Your guide to the new energy efficient regulations Our environment has never been more important and the Government has announced new energy efficiency regulations that affect your purchase of windows, doors or a conservatory. Known as Document L of The Building Regulations, they set standards for the energy efficiency of home improvement products. The regulations are effective from April 2002 and affect every installation of new windws, doors and conservatories. It will be a mandatory requirement for all new and replacement windows and doors in England and Wales to achieve a certain energy efficiency rating. As a homeowner it is your responsibility to fit Document L compliant products when making home improvements. You can do this easily by selecting a company certified by the Fenestration Self Assessment Scheme (FENSA). FENSA has been set up by the window industry in conjunction wth the Government. Home improvement companies must join if they wish to install windows, doors or conservatories. You can find more information on the FENSA website.
